Time for Persoal Development

Thanks to some expert advice from a top leader in my business, I have decided to take some much needed time over the next couple of months for personal development. Personal development is absolutely essential to reaching my goals because I am 100% responsible for the success or failure of my business. I need to set goals and hold myself accountable.
In 2009 I focused primarily on my customers. Obtaining new customers through the power of 3 and developing and maintaining my customers through consultative selling and providing the best possible customer service. This has served me very well. However, I took very little time for personal development. Of course I will continue to do the things that I am good at. However, it is very important to constantly strive to learn new things and then to practice the new things that I have learned.
I encourage you to do the same. I have just finished listening to an audio book by Jeff Olsen called the Slight Edge. In his book, Mr. Olsen talks about how small actions, done consistently over time can add up to big results. This reminds me of the "Power of 3" that us Avon ladies follow. When you talk to 3 people each day about your business, at the end of the week you have 21 new prospects. That's 21 people who could either become your customer or join your team. Now of course not every one of them will, but think if just 10 of them did! That would add up to 520 new customers or team members by the end of the year! Would 520 new customers and team members increase your earnings? Of course it would, and dramatically!
Mr. Olsen also recommends reading just 10 pages of a good, positive book each day. Or listening to 10 minutes of an audio book in your car during your commute.
On Wednesday, January 6th there is an all day business building workshop for my division, hosted by our new division manager, Stephen Walker. Then I will be attending a series of 10 conference calls with Sue Mazza (a SEUL with Avon and an excellent speaker and mentor!) to further help develop my business. I also plan to find a few more good books to read as well! I will be sure to let you know how what wonderful things I learn!
